Amici Mortem (Friends of Death)

“Using a diverse array of methodologies – traditional, emergent, interdisciplinary and experimental – we are called to address the urgent need to reorient ourselves towards a more sacred, intimate and complex understanding and relationship with Death, Dying and the Dead.

We intend to apply the fullness of our myriad skills, visionary powers and resources towards creating a diverse praxis that embraces the strong potential for Death, grief, art, mutual aid and collectivized ritual practices to strengthen the web of connections that will sustain us through the beautiful storm that is our shared mortality.”

Opening Friday February 15th 2019 in San Jose CA, Amici Mortem features the art and literature of friends of death including the illustrations and sculptural work of Madison Wanamaker, a grief altar installation and a Green Burial/Green Cemetery workshop by Selena Fox.
